Company History

The Duluth Game company was a major player in the board game industry from 1902 and up through the years just prior to World War II.

In 1919 and 1920, as part of the Duluth Games Home Run Baseball game, Duluth issued baseball cards to be used during game play of most A.L. and N.L. stars.

All Duluth cards can be found with one or both of two distinct card backs: a) with player and team names or, b) without player and team names.

The version with the player and team names is considered to be more scarce than without, particularly in the 1919 version.

The original Duluth Game Company offices were held on the upper floor of the Duluth Amphitheater in Duluth, Minnesota. Image taken in March, 1920.

In addition to this baseball offering, Duluth would also issue several rather successful non-sport cards in the 1930’s and 1940’s.
