In the years after the turn of the century, the largest tobacco companies were American Tobacco, Lacombe Tobacco, and Buchanan Tobacco of Boston, Massachusetts.
All three produced baseball cards for insertion into their tobacco products, most typically cigarette packs.
Buchanan Tobacco produced baseball cards from this time frame are legendary, both for their early use of color photographs (and color in general) and for their subject selection.
Buchanan Tobacco issued baseball cards in tobacco products as late as 1927.
